Bobigny: “Justice for Amar Slimani” shot seven times by an off-duty police officer
His name was Amar Slimani, he was in his early thirties, and he was unaware that the twilight of life was about to fall prematurely upon him, at the first light of a fateful June 29, in an idealized France. A France that no longer inspires much of a dream, where he nevertheless aspired to forge a better future for himself.
A country of human rights whose myth, already somewhat tarnished, was literally pulverized when, at 6:30 a.m., in Bobigny, in the garage where he had been allowed to take refuge by the woman for whom he was doing various jobs, the fate of this young Algerian national was struck down.
Fatally mowed down by seven bullets fired by a plainclothes policeman and grandson of the owner of the place, who gave him no chance – A peacekeeper of the territorial traffic and road safety company (CTRCSR 93 pedestrian) – Amar Slimani collapsed in a pool of blood. Hit in the chest, but also in the back and hit in the head, while he was trying to flee, he was coldly and cowardly shot.
According to the testimonies of the two protagonists of this horrible drama, the grandmother heard a noise in her garden and immediately called her grandson.
The policeman ” off-duty man shot a man seven times, including once in the head and twice in the back »said Me Yassine Bouzrou, the lawyer for the victim’s family, stressing that the officer had fired ” at point blank range ». Near 20 minuteshe indicated that he would give priority “ the hypothesis of a racist crime, particularly given the terms that the police officer used to describe the victim during his interviews with investigators.”
Overwhelmed with emotion, more than 200 people gathered on Saturday, July 13, near the Bobigny courthouse, to pay a poignant tribute to Amar Slimani. Among them, Mathilde Panot, president of the LFI group in the National Assembly, who vigorously denounced a clearly “racist murder” against a backdrop of police violence.
“We want justice for Amar”cried Rachid Slimani, the victim’s deeply affected brother. “We will be at your side until we have information on what happened.”assured For its part Abdel Sadi, the communist mayor of Bobigny.
Written in black and white on a large banner, the demand for “Justice for Amar Slimani”this Algerian national who fell under the bullets of ambient racism, in a France which, in fact an El Dorado, was his cemetery, was chanted by the citizens and elected officials of Bobigny, both indignant and dismayed.
