Brussels: an EU explosive report confirms serious Israeli crimes in Gaza
According to an article published on June 20 by EOobServerthe European Union has discreetly validated the accusations of the United Nations against Israel in a report classified “limited” but recently disclosed. This document, written by the European Service for External Action (SEAE), identifies major violations: indiscriminate attacks, organized famine, torture, apartheid.
On eight pages, the report alerts to direct offenses to the obligations of Israel in terms of human rights, within the framework of its association agreement with the EU. In theory, this could result in the suspension of commercial advantages valued at one billion euros per year. Based on the work of the United Nations and the International Court of Justice, this report evokes an appalling humanitarian situation: one resident of Gaza out of five threatened by famine, civilians – babies, disabled, journalists – killed under bombs, a blockade qualified as collective punishment, potentially assimilated to the use of famine as a weapon of war.
The document lists a series of serious crimes: blind attacks on civilians, use of famine as a method of war, executions of journalists, torture of prisoners, apartheid, racial segregation, collective punishment and violation of a decision by the International Court of Justice.
Andrew Rettman’s article, published by EOobServeris the first full leak in this explosive report. He returns in detail to the many violations of international law noted by the SEAE, while stressing semantic prudence and internal tensions within European institutions. Through testimonies of specific experts and extracts, the investigation highlights the contradictions between the lucid observation drawn up by Brussels and the persistent political inaction of the Member States. It remains to be seen whether the European Union will finally transform its findings into actions.
