“Conquer Gaza”: the new Israeli plan for expansion of its genocidal campaign
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security firm unanimously approved plans to mobilize reservists and entrust the Israeli army with the responsibility for food supply and other basic necessities of the 2.3 million people who suffer from the blockade imposed by Israel on Palestinian territory.
Yesterday, the head of the Israeli army Eyal Zamir announced his intention to mobilize tens of thousands of reservists to further intensify his offensive against the besieged Gaza Strip. These declarations preceded a meeting of the Security Council of Benjamin Netanyahu, which last night approved a new expansion plan for the current military campaign in Gaza for 576 days now. In this genocidal campaign, Israel has already murdered more than 52,567 Palestinian and injured 118,610 others.
This new plan differs from the previous ones in that it explains Israel’s desire to “conquer Gaza”: according to official Israeli sources, the new plan includes the “territorial control” of the enclave and the promotion of the “voluntary departure of the Gazaouis” of the Palestinian territory. The displayed will would no longer be the liberation of hostages or even a victory over Hamas, but the annexation.
Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, far-right minister Fervent defender of colonization, said at a conference that Israel would not withdraw from the Gaza Strip, “even within the framework of an agreement on hostages”. “We are going to conquer the Gaza strip once and for all. We will stop being afraid of the word “occupation”, “he said. “We will capture the territory and we will stay there. »»
The Israeli Prime Minister published a new video in Hebrew on X this afternoon, in which he approaches the plan approved by the cabinet to extend the offensive to Gaza and confirms the intention of occupation. According to extracts translated by Reuters, Netanyahu said that the Palestinian population of Gaza “will be moved, for their own protection”, adding that Israeli soldiers would not enter Gaza to launch raids and then withdraw from it: “the intention is quite the opposite”.
“Total humanitarian aid control”
The plan approved last night also provides for the control of humanitarian aid. There too, Smotrich clearly affirms Israel’s desire for a “total control of humanitarian aid, so that it does not turn into supplies for Hamas”: “We want our soldiers to fight against a tired, hungry and exhausted enemy, and not in front of an enemy who has help and products that arrive from the outside of the enclave”.
Israel has been entirely prohibited since March 2, the delivery of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. For a month and 3 days, therefore, no food, no medication, no essential supply has been able to enter the enclave. A cruel blockade which has already caused the death of at least 57 Palestinian and threatens thousands of children with malnutrition, and which further aggravates the situation of Gazaouis hospitals, already on the brink of collapse after 18 months of Israeli bombardments.
It is to remedy this situation that he himself voluntarily created that Israel therefore presents his plan to “total humanitarian aid”. Citing an anonymous Israeli official, the Times of Israel said that the new Israeli plan would imply “international organizations and private security companies (distributing) food packages” to Gaza families. Israeli soldiers would provide “external security to private companies and international organizations that distribute aid”.
The campaign humanitarian team (HCT), a forum that brings together United Nations agencies, said on Sunday that Israeli officials were trying to obtain their agreement to transport aid through what it called “Israeli centers subject to the conditions set by the Israeli army, once the government has agreed to reopen the passing points”. In a statement, the HCT said that such a plan would be dangerous and “contrary to fundamental humanitarian principles and seemed to strengthen control over vital products as a means of pressure, within the framework of a military strategy”.
The coalition said that the UN would not participate in this project, because it does not respect the world humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, independence and neutrality. This position was welcomed by Hamas, which described Israel’s projects on Monday on Monday to take control of humanitarian aid: “We reject the use of aid as a political blackmail and support the UN position against any arrangement that violates humanitarian principles,” said the armed group in a statement, insisting that Israel is “entirely responsible” »In Gaza. Jan Egeland, the chief of the Norwegian council for refugees (NRC), said that the Israeli plan is “fundamentally contrary to humanitarian principles”.
