New poll shows how Israel has lost international support

Demonstration / Palestine: let’s impose a ceasefire, sanctions against Israel

Demonstration on Sunday, September 8 at 2 p.m. (departure point currently being negotiated with the prefecture) at the arrival point of the Palestinian Flag Route

On September 7, it will be 11 months since the Palestinian population of Gaza has been subjected to attacks of unprecedented violence by the Israeli army. The bombings continue and do not spare the schools where the population has taken refuge, nor the areas declared safe, nor the vital infrastructures. The water pumping and storage center in the Rafah region was dynamited. The population is hungry, thirsty, exhausted by the incessant orders to move.

The official toll of 40,000 dead, the majority of whom were women and children, already appalling for a population of 2.3 million (well over 1 million in France), does not take into account those missing under the rubble, estimated at at least 15,000, nor the tens of thousands of injured awaiting treatment, nor the countless people who died of exhaustion, hunger, thirst, and untreated illnesses outside of what remains of the hospitals.

Western states, led by the United States, have made a series of declarations in favour of a ceasefire but have not proposed any sanctions to impose it and continue to supply weapons to the State of Israel.

In the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the population is increasingly subjected to attacks and harassment by the army and settlers, and lives in a quasi-state of siege. Since October 7, the Israeli government has exploited the war in Gaza to intensify its policies of expanding settlements, demolishing homes, and isolating Jerusalem. There have been more than 670 Palestinians killed since October 7. On August 28, the Israeli army launched a very large-scale offensive against the refugee camps in the northern West Bank, declaring a “total war” with an explicit reference to Gaza.

In Israel itself, the destruction of Bedouin villages is intensifying, and Palestinians are subjected to severe repression and pervasive racism. Many of them have lost their jobs or can no longer do them in acceptable conditions.

Arbitrary arrests and detentions are increasing throughout Palestine, the conditions of detention of prisoners are disastrous, torture has become widespread.

Faced with the ongoing genocide, the “plausible” nature of which has been highlighted by the International Court of Justice for almost 7 months, States, including France, have an obligation to act.

The same International Court of Justice also, on July 19, pointed out the illegality of the occupation of Palestinian territory and its colonization, and the obligation of the State of Israel to put an end to it as quickly as possible.

Finally, let us recall that the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has requested arrest warrants against Israeli leaders B. Netanyahu and Y. Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Faced with the denial of humanity that the current situation constitutes, we call for strengthening our mobilization, and challenge the political authorities of our country.

The National Collective for a Just and Lasting Peace between Palestinians and Israelis demands:

An immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, the withdrawal of the Israeli army and the opening of all crossing points for humanitarian aid to access the entire territory of the Gaza Strip, as well as an end to the blockade.

The end of occupation, colonization and apartheid policies.

The release of all those detained, including those held hostage by Hamas, the 10,000 Palestinian political prisoners held in defiance of international law, and the thousands of Palestinians from Gaza transferred to detention and torture centers.

Material and political support for UNRWA, which is subject to shameful attacks by Israel while it plays an irreplaceable role for Palestinian refugees and the entire population of Gaza.

The protection of Palestinian journalists and the opening of Gaza to the international press.

An end to Israel’s impunity, including:

  • An embargo on all deliveries of arms, munitions and military components to Israel,
  • diplomatic sanctions,
  • the suspension of the association agreement between the European Union and Israel,

France’s recognition of the State of Palestine, combined with a reminder of the right of return of Palestinian refugees and the affirmation of the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

Based on these demands, we call for demonstrations on September 7 and 8 throughout France in support of the Palestinian people.

In Paris, we are calling for a demonstration on Sunday, September 8 at 2 p.m. (departure point currently being negotiated with the prefecture) at the arrival point of the Palestinian Flag Route.
