Food scandal in Indonesia: 7 products containing pork illegally certified halal
A shock survey of the BPJPH (administration of halal products) uncovered an unprecedented scandal: among nine food products tested, seven contained pork while fraudulently sporting the precious Halal label. This discovery raises serious questions about the control mechanisms and the reliability of halal labels in certain markets. Laboratory analyzes have confirmed the presence of pig components in everyday consumer products, mainly marshmallows and gelatin of popular brands like corniceatural and hakiki.
Faced with these overwhelming revelations, the BPJPH reacted firmly by ordering the immediate withdrawal of the market of the seven fraudulently certified products, while imposing the recall of the two other non -certified but also contaminated products. The director of the BPJPH did not mince his words: “This shameless deception is an unacceptable betrayal towards Muslim consumers and seriously undermines the credibility of our entire certification system”.
The authorities announce a drastic strengthening of controls and call for consumers to the greatest vigilance, recommending them to systematically check the authenticity of certifications via the official BPJPH.Halal.go.id portal. The complete list of incriminated products includes in particular the Cornicheaturel brands Marshmallow, Chompchomp (three different varieties), Hakiki Gelatin, as well as the Marshmallows Larbee, AAA and SWETME. This scandal, the most serious since the implementation of Halal regulations in 2014, throws a raw light on the faults of the certification system in the most populated Muslim country in the world, aroused concern and indignation among the population.
