Former Saudi Intelligence Turki Al-Faisal accuses Israel and denounces the “double standard” of the United States

In Riyadh, the former Saudi intelligence chief and ex-ambassador in the United States and the United Kingdom, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, strongly condemned the Israeli attack on September 9 in Qatar, which he described as “treacherous”. This strike targeted Hamas officials in full discussion of ceasefire for Gaza.
Speaking during the gala dinner marking the 50th anniversary ofArab NewsPrince Turki warned that “the common security of the Gulf countries is threatened by a pariah state which does not respect any international rule”. He called on the Gulf States to rethink their alliances and strategies to “preserve their security by all means”.
He also denounced the “double standard” of the United States, passed according to him “from the role of honest intermediary to that of the faithful ally of Israel”, and praised the recent recognitions of the Palestine State obtained thanks to the joint efforts of Saudi Arabia and France to the UN. To those who accuse these recognitions of “rewarding Hamas”, he replied: “It is the Israeli colonial occupation of Palestine and the refusal of the right to self -determination which nourish resistance, not the reverse. »»
The release of Prince Turki al-Faisal is far from harmless. A respected figure in Saudi diplomacy, he gives voice, at the highest level, to an increasing concern in the Gulf: Israel, by hitting a neighboring country in the midst of a cease-fire negotiation, appears as a direct threat to regional stability. By connecting this act to the American “double standard” and recalling the right of the Palestinian people to a state, it expresses what many Arab companies feel: an urgent need to break with security dictated by Washington and Tel Aviv. His remarks, made in Riyadh, resonate as a strong signal addressed to the leaders of the Gulf so that they meet their alliances and assume an independent policy, faithful to the aspirations of the peoples.
