Gaza has become “a mass grave for the Palestinians and those who help them”, alerts Doctors Without Borders
The Gaza Strip has become “a mass grave for the Palestinians and those who help them”, according to Doctors Without Borders. The human assessment has reached catastrophic proportions: more than 1,500 dead since March 18, bringing the total to more than 50,000 victims since October 2023, including a third of children.
The targeting of humanitarian workers takes on an unprecedented scale. In six months, 409 humanitarian workers died, including 11 MSF members. An emblematic case: 15 rescuers massacred on March 23 in Rafah, their bodies and ambulances destroyed found in a common pit. “These crimes are impunity,” accuses Claire Magone, director general of MSF.
The health system is dying under the strikes. Deir al-Balah’s MSF campaign hospital, attacked on April 7, had to be evacuated in dramatic conditions. The Israeli blockade suffocates medical structures, deprived of fuel and vital drugs. “Hospital generators stop one by one. It is a programmed death sentence,” says Amande Bazerolle, emergency coordinator.
Faced with this humanitarian disaster, MSF launched a triple call: immediate lifting of the seat, independent international surveys, and the durable ceasefire. “Behind these figures, there is a political choice. The international community closes a eyes on a massacre,” denounces Amande Bazerolle.
