Gaza: Human Rights Watch denounces crimes against humanity
The international human rights organization has just published an alarming investigation into the situation in Gaza. In this document entitled “Hopeless, hungry and besieged”, published this Thursday, November 14, HRW highlights a deliberate policy of forced displacement affecting almost the entire Gazan population.
The investigation reveals that around 1.9 million residents have been forced to flee their homes since October 2023. The NGO documents the organized demolition of essential infrastructure – housing, health facilities, schools – as well as the establishment of perimeters qualified as “buffer zones” making any return of populations impossible.
The report highlights the particularly sensitive dimension of these movements in a territory where the majority of residents already have refugee status. The situation has further worsened with the latest operations in northern Gaza, pushing more than 400,000 people south.
HRW analysts warn of the risk of permanent uprooting, with the destruction making certain sectors unlivable. The threat of famine looming over several areas only amplifies what the organization does not hesitate to describe as a crime against humanity.
