Imam Farahi on Folding Hands

October 29, 2004

Question

Imam Farahi believes sunnah of prophet (pbuh) can have more than one way of practical demonestration. In this regard, Imam Farahi details folding and un-folding hands both as part of Sunnah. On the contrary, would I be right in implying from your answer that folding or un-folding hands is not part of Sunnah of the prophet (mpubh) and whether to do so has been left for the followers to decide? Thank you.

Answer

Yes. This is correct. The placement of hands during Qiyaam is not something that has been strictly prescribed by the Prophet (pbuh) and, therefore, this is an instance where Muslims are allowed to opt for any of the various ways.

I hope this helps.
