In Rabat, a human tide for Gaza: “Morocco, Palestine, one people”

Tens of thousands of Moroccans paraded this Sunday in the streets of the capital to denounce the humanitarian situation deemed “unbearable” in the Gaza Strip and reject the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel. Palestinian flags in hand, signs brandished high, the demonstrators traveled avenue Mohammed V with the cries of “It’s a shame, Gaza is under fire”, “Lift the blockade” or “Morocco, Palestine, one people”. The call was launched by a large coalition of left parties, unions and the Al Adl Wal Ihssane movement, very popular in Morocco.

In the crowd, the message is clear: Gaza undergoes an “ethnic cleaning”, and the silence or passivity of the governments can no longer last. “The Palestinians are hungry and killed before the eyes of the whole world,” said a demonstrator. “Our presence here is a way of amplifying their voice. The Gazaouis live under seat, on the edge of the famine. The current genocide has already cost the lives of tens of thousands of civilians. Morocco has officially called for an immediate cease-fire, but without calling into question its diplomatic normalization with Israel. For demonstrators, this is no longer enough. In the street, solidarity with Palestine does not weaken.
