Irish pediatricians ask to stop buying medicines from the Israeli group Teva

More than 50 Consultants in Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) pediatrics ask the state to no longer use drugs produced by Teva Pharmaceuticals, Israeli multinational credits, “when there are viable alternatives”, reports The Irish Timesmain Irish daily. In a letter addressed to the management of Chi and the Minister of Health, they claim that the laboratory “contributes directly to the economy of a state prosecuted for genocide”. The signatories underline that the medical supplies of Teva “were used by Israeli forces in Gaza” and write that continuing to obtain from the group “contradicts the ethical and humanitarian principles” displayed by Chi.
Teva rejects these accusations. The company claims to respect “the highest standards in terms of ethics and commercial practices” and warns that a boycott would risk endangering “the health and well-being of patients”. The group recalls its economic weight in Ireland, saying that its activities contributed $ 226 million to the national economy last year and allowed the health system to save more than 1.5 billion euros over the last decade thanks to generics.
The Ministry of Health said they played “no role” in drug purchases, while Chi management confirmed that it has received the letter and be examined, according to The Irish Times.
