King Charles III receives Muslim and Jewish leaders after “reconciliation agreements”

King Charles III received Tuesday, February 11, in Buckingham Palace the main Jewish and Muslims religious leaders on Tuesday 11 February, following the historic signing of “reconciliation agreements” in Spencer House, London.

The great rabbi sir ephraim mirvis, spiritual leader of the Orthodox Jewish communities of the United Kingdom, and the Grand Imam Dr Sayed Razawi, Managing Director of the Scottish Institute of Ismalian Communities (Branch of Islam Shiite guided by Aga Khan) , accompanied by the main Imam Qari Asim and the Rabbi Josh Levy, were welcomed in room 1844 of the Palace to present this new collaboration frame.

“It’s a wonderful initiative”said Charles III during this meeting. The Grand Rabbi stressed the historical importance of this moment, saying that “This is the only possible way”. These agreements, drawn up at the Château de Drumlanrig in Scotland last month, aim to establish a lasting basis for mutual understanding between Jewish and Muslim communities. They brought together representatives of eleven currents different from the two religions.

“The Drumlanrig agreements represent a daring first step towards the reconstruction of significant confidence between the Muslim and Jewish communities in the long term”, said Sir Ephraim Mirvis in a press release. “They do not mask our differences, they recognize them.”

Lord Khan of Burnley, British Minister of Cults, as well as representatives of the British and Scottish governments and the European Commission attended the discussions as observers.
