Moscow Grand Mosque celebrates Muslim culture with “World of the Quran” exhibition and film festival

In the heart of Moscow, the Great Mosque makes the city vibrate to the rhythm of two unique events: while the “World of the Koran” exhibition opens its doors, the projectors turn on for the “Islamic Cinema Week”. The result of an alliance between Russian Muslim spiritual authorities and the Qatari Ministry of Awqaf, this double cultural event promises to delight visitors until mid-November.

It is with enthusiasm that Roushan Abyasov, a leading figure in the administration and conductor of the Moscow Quranic Recitation Competition, unveils an exhibition that goes off the beaten track. Young and old alike can immerse themselves in an interactive adventure, going back in time to the alleys of Mecca and Medina of the prophetic era.

In this cultural effervescence, the seventh Islamic art is not left out, finding a showcase of choice to shine. This celebration echoes the prestigious International Quran Recitation Competition, the 22nd edition of which has just ended. An event which saw talents from more than 30 nations converge on Moscow, including nine African countries who wore their colors high.

These cultural events, like so many bridges between traditions, demonstrate a growing enthusiasm for Islamic heritage. They weave a web of dialogue where each visitor can savor the richness of a civilization which is expressed as much by its sacred verses as by its cinematographic creations.
