November 1 parade: Algeria prepares to unveil the Iskander-E missile

Algeria is preparing to unveil for the first time its Iskander-E short-range ballistic missile system, mounted on an MZKT-7930 chassis, during the military parade on November 1, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the Algerian revolution. According to the Blog Defense site, this system, Russian-made and designated SS-26 Stone by NATO, is known for its high precision and increased mobility, allowing rapid deployments in varied terrain.

With a range of 500 kilometers, meeting the standards of the missile technology control regime, the Iskander-E strengthens Algeria’s precision strike capabilities.

The Iskander-E, an exported version of the Russian missile, stands out for its reliability and cutting-edge capabilities. This short-range missile can carry up to 480 kg of explosive charges, with options ranging from conventional to anti-bunker. Equipped with an inertial guidance system supported by GPS and GLONASS, it achieves an accuracy of 5 to 7 meters. Designed to resist electronic jamming, the Iskander-E remains operational in hostile environments, meeting modern electronic warfare requirements. This system constitutes a major strengthening of Algerian defense, making Algeria the second foreign country, after Armenia, to acquire this advanced technology.

This deployment of the Iskander-E system illustrates Algeria’s desire to strengthen its strategic position and its regional deterrence capacity. By integrating this cutting-edge technology, the country demonstrates its continued commitment to the modernization of its armed forces, while diversifying its military equipment to meet current security requirements.
