Pizza leader in Spain: Telepizza launches halal pizzas in certain restaurants

The Spanish channel Telepizza now offers halal pizzas in several of its establishments, particularly in Catalonia. This offer eliminates pork and uses ingredients that comply with halal standards in order to meet growing demand from some customers.
Founded in 1987 in Madrid, Telepizza today has more than 1,600 restaurants in around twenty countries and employs more than 20,000 people. The company, integrated into the group Food Delivery Brandsachieves a turnover estimated between 500 and 600 million euros and collaborates in particular with Pizza Hut.
The first restaurants concerned were chosen in areas where demand is identified as higher. The brand is therefore testing this offer on a limited scale before considering a possible extension to other cities if the results are deemed satisfactory. In the fast food sector, this type of adaptation is not new. Other chains, in Europe as elsewhere, have already adjusted their menu to respond to specific eating habits, whether religious, cultural or linked to new consumption patterns. This development illustrates above all an economic logic. Faced with increased competition and fragmented markets, major brands are seeking to capture new customers by diversifying their offering. The introduction of halal products is part of this strategy, revealing less a change in identity than a pragmatic adaptation to market realities and the diversity of consumers.
