PLS Accounts

August 8, 2005 by Admin

Question

Sir, This question might have been asked and answered before in your web site. My query is that if i keep my money in PLS account in say any Bank without any intention of getting interest or riba, just because I have to have an account with the banks where my salary would be deposited. Is this OK. because I consider that Intention is more important than any thing else. Moreover by changing my account to current account, the only beneficier is the bank, that in any case is involved in Riba. If I need a totally riba free account than probably i should not have any account with any bank.

Answer

You are quite right in your opinion that intention has a lot to do with the Islamic view on matters in life. So long as you are not accepting any interest on the money you have deposited in the bank then it is fine.

I hope this helps.

God knows best.
