Praying in the Mosque

May 13, 2006

Question

Here where i live in a European country they dont alow adhan to call five times a day, do i nead still to pray in the mosque, becuse it is over 30 minutes if you walk, and i work in a another town, then the distanse is even farer do i need to atend jumha or can i pay by my self

Answer

There is no obligation for you to pray in a mosque. The earth is a prayer mat for the believers. Your home or your place of employment is just as fine to pray. As for the Friday congregational prayer, because the country wherein you reside is not a custodian of religious observances, you are well within your right to pray at your job. However, keep in mind that any extra effort you put forth towards your Lord is a blessing for you. That 30 minute walk should be seen as a walk towards God. While on the move remembrance of God may help you reach a different spiritual level by the time you reach your destination.

I hope I have I clarified the issue.

God knows best.
