Protecting Oneself From Magic or Nazar?

September 25, 2005

Question

Asalam Aalaikum,

Is their any perticular dua which we can read inorder to protect ourselves from magic or nazar? I hope you understand what I mean by “nazar”?

Allah Hafiz

Answer

There are prayers and duas (supplications) that one may perform to protect himself from evil actions of people. These prayers are for the purpose of God’s protection from any harm, including the aforementioned concerns. Surahs Al Falaq and Al Nass can be recited for these purposes. However, it should not be considered that reciting such verses are a counter-spell to a spell or a magical force to defeat a magical force. These prayers are strictly a request for God’s protection from people’s negative forces that emanate from their actions.

I hope this helps.

God knows best.
