Ramadan 2025 begins in Berlin under the sign of interreligious dialogue
The German capital, which has more than 300,000 Muslims, is about to celebrate Ramadan from March 1. This sacred month, which brings together 5.5 million faithful across Germany according to the Ministry of the Interior, will continue until March 30.
Berlin offers many cultural events and moments of sharing, especially during the daily breakdown of fasting. These events, often interreligious, aim to promote the discovery of Muslim culture.
In a tense international context, the Christian religious leaders of Berlin, including the Protestant bishop Christian Stäblein and the Catholic Archbishop Heiner Koch, addressed their wishes to the Muslim communities. They highlighted the importance of interconfessional solidarity and called for a common reflection on the values of compassion and love of neighbor.
This year, the Berlin Muslim community, particularly dynamic in Neukölln and Wedding districts, is organizing many inclusive initiatives. Community “Iftars” (breaking meals) are planned in several cultural and mosques centers in the city, open to all Berliners wishing to share these moments of conviviality and mutual discovery.
