Question
I do dawah to nonmuslims. My wife is also very eager to do so. Due to her effort our Christian servant reverted. Male and female are given same duty in Quran.See 9:71. Men go out to do dawah. What I want to know is whether woman has to do dawah by going out and meeting nonmuslim females. I would like to have proof about this way of going to do dawah from the life of Prophet(peace be upon him) and companions(Allah be pleased with them).Thank you. Was Salaam.
Answer
All Muslims – male and female – are encouraged to propagate Islam. However, the foremost way to do so is to adhere to the Islamic code of conduct and beliefs. Committing one’s self to the guidance of God will radiate from within and people will notice. Once this is established, in earnest, the explanation and invitation to Islam will flow naturally. In any case, there is nothing that commands men or women to stay home to perform da’wah. Moreover, neither men nor women are forbidden from leaving their homes to spread the word of Islam. There are volumes of historical data that deal with the propagation of Islam in the manner in which the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions (ra) committed.
I hope I have clarified the issue.
God knows best.
