Freed from the glitz of his golden life, the Algerian football star, who remains very attached to his religion, returned to basics in the haven of peace of a Saudi mosque, during a highly spiritual interlude. (see video below)

A rejuvenating parenthesis bringing him closer to the Most High, who enchanted young and old in the kingdom of black gold which became his chosen land, but not only… in Algeria, his native land, too. If he has many admirers at home, on the other side of the Mediterranean, Riyad Mahrez, the footballer with a big heart, is also praised there for having financed wonderful charitable projects, including the construction of a mosque in Tlemcen, the city where he was born.

Taken on the spot, the images showing the new recruit of the Saudi club Al Ahli SC performing his religious duty sparked a healthy buzz on the Web, most fraternal and laudatory.
