Silicon Valley: the great cleansing of pro-Palestinian voices denouncing the genocide
The complicity of Silicon Valley giants in the repression of pro-Palestinian voices is taking on systemic proportions, as revealed by an investigation by the Chris Hedges Report. From Meta to Microsoft via Apple, a relentless mechanism of censorship has been put in place, orchestrating the methodical suppression of content denouncing the genocide in Gaza, while algorithms propel Israeli propaganda.
Even more troubling, these digital behemoths are not content with stifling debate: their technologies, from artificial intelligence to cloud computing, now serve as infrastructure for the Israeli war machine. Google’s Nimbus project and Microsoft’s Azure services notably power the massive surveillance and military targeting systems deployed against the Palestinians.
As for the employees who dare to denounce this abuse, they pay a high price. The cases of Tariq at Apple, Saima at Meta or engineers at Microsoft attest to this: the slightest expression of solidarity with Palestine is worth shelving or dismissal. A witch hunt which reveals, if it were necessary, how so-called technological neutrality masks active complicity in oppression. Silicon Valley, self-proclaimed temple of emancipatory innovation, now appears to be one of the most zealous servants of repression.
