Spiritual Significance of Prophet’s (pbuh) Wives

January 16, 2002

Question

Do the prophet’s wives according to u have a spiritual significance, despite the vs of Quran chap. 66:5 & not his own Holy Children.

Answer

I really do not know what you imply by “religious significance”. What I have implied in my previous responses is that, in view of the directive of the Qur’an, every Muslim is obliged to be extremely respectful towards the wives of the Prophet (pbuh). This does not, in any way, imply that the wives of the Prophet (pbuh) or his progeny are clear of mistakes.
