Lord, do not let our hearts deviate [from the Truth], now that you have guided us [to it]. And Grant us [the great blessings of] Your [abounding] Mercy. Indeed You are the Granter of bounties [ – without any limits]1
Note: A pious and God fearing individual should never be unmindful of his own internal weaknesses as well as the external forces of evil that have the undeniable potential of leading him astray from the right path, even after that path has become clear for him. We must always bear in mind that our test of accepting and submitting to all the Truth that comes our way, continues as long as we are allowed to inhabit the earth. Thus, even when a person is generally confident that he has reached God’s Truth and, because of that, is on the path of success and salvation, he should pray to God to save him from once again losing sight of this path and, thereby, losing all hope of success and salvation.
The cited supplication implores God to not only keep our hearts from straying from the right path, once we have found it and are allowed to accept it, but also to add to the guidance that he has already bestowed upon us, as a special mercy upon us.
