Timing of Asr Prayer

July 10, 2005 by Admin

Question

The Hanafi school is of the view that Asr prayer starts when the length of shadow of an object is twice that of its length, while Shafii school is of the view that Asr prayer starts when the length of shadow of an object is same as that of its length. What is the correct view of these two?.

Regards

Answer

In this case the Shafi’i, and other madhahib (i.e. schools of thought) who share the view that the length of the shadow should be the same as the object itself, is correct.

I hope I have clarified the issue.

God knows best.
