United States: arrests of children and assassination of a caregiver – ICE appears to be a fascist militia

In the United States, federal immigration police (ICE) once again shocked public opinion by arresting a two-year-old girl in Minnesota during an operation against an Ecuadorian migrant, raising fears of a further step in the militarization of the state. Authorities arrested the father and child in the street, then transferred them to a detention center in Texas. Despite a release order issued by a federal judge, they were only able to return to Minnesota late in the afternoon: the father was kept in detention, and the little girl was returned to her mother.
This operation takes place in an already explosive climate following the death ofAlex Prettia 37-year-old nurse shot dead in Minneapolis by federal agents during an anti-immigration deployment. Pretti, described by his family and colleagues as a passionate caregiver, committed to social justice and concerned about others, was not threatening anyone at the time he was killed — witnesses say he was not brandishing any weapons when he approached to help a woman who was knocked to the ground by officers.
With these arrests of children and this type of lethal violence against civilians, a growing part of American society no longer sees ICE as a police force, but as a fascist militia tolerated by the federal state, acting without transparency or democratic accountability. Under the administration of Donald Trumpthese actions intensified a national protest movement against the methods of the agency, accused of oppression against migrants as well as against citizens who defend their rights.<
