Vietnam and Turkey strengthen their cooperation in halal exports

Vietnam intensifies its cooperation with Turkey to develop exports of Halal products, with the aim of taking advantage of a global market estimated at more than $ 2,500 billion. During a seminar organized jointly by the Vietnamese trade promotion agency (Vietrade), the Vietnam Embassy in Ankara and the Turkish External Economic Relations Commission (DEIK), government officials and economic actors of the two countries discussed the opportunities offered by Halal industry.
The Vietnam Ambassador to Turkey, Dang Thu Thu Ha, praised the dynamics of bilateral relations, in particular since the visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in 2023. She underlined the potential for cooperation in the Halal sector, still emerging but promising. According to the Hoang Tai, deputy director of Vietrade, trade between the two countries exceeded $ 2 billion in 2024. Vietnam is now the second trade partner of Turkey within ASEAN, while Ankara constitutes a strategic bridge towards the markets of the Middle East, Europe and North Africa.
Turkish representatives, for their part, highlighted the rapid growth of global demand for Halal certified products, perceived as guarantee of quality and safety. They invited Vietnamese companies to participate in the next World Halal Summit And at the Halal exhibition, scheduled in Istanbul from November 26 to 29. Despite this potential, Vietnamese exporters still come up against obstacles, including strict certification standards and the lack of mutual recognition of halal labels between Islamic countries. The two parties, however, reaffirmed their desire to deepen “mutually beneficial” cooperation.
