War crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide: two Franco-Israelis targeted by a complaint in France

The FIDH, with its Palestinian and French partners, filed a complaint this July 1st before the Paris court against two Franco-Israeli soldiers, Sasha A. and Gabriel B., members of a Israeli army unit. The latter are accused of having participated in summary executions of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, between November 2023 and March 2024.

This legal action is based on an investigation by Palestinian journalist Younis Tirawi, who revealed the existence of a “Ghost Unit” composed largely of binationals, involved in a series of extrajudicial executions. The testimonies of victims and the evidence collected by the NGOs confirm the veracity of the facts.

“At the end of an in -depth investigation, we collected the testimonies of many victims in Gaza and verified them thanks to information in open source, corroborating the affirmations that Israeli elite shooters carried out summary executions of Palestinian Palestinian in Nasser hospital at the beginning of 2024,” said Issam Younis. “The convergence of the accounts of eyewitnesses and the documentation presented by Tirawi clearly indicates the involvement of the same elite shooters in a coordinated campaign of extrajudicial executions in various places in Gaza. »»

According to complainants, these acts could constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity, even acts of genocide. A French judicial unit specializing in crimes against humanity is now seized of the case.

About 4,000 French nationals are currently used in the Israeli army. For NGOs, France can no longer close its eyes: it has the legal and moral obligation to continue its nationals involved in international crimes. “It follows from international commitments taken out by France that the States carry primary responsibility to continue the author of international crimes. France must imperatively ensure that these crimes do not remain unpunished and guarantee the pursuit of their author, in particular when it comes to its own nationals, “said Emmanuel Daoud, lawyer for LDH and AFPS.
