Wet Dreams During the State of Fasting

October 17, 2004 by Admin

Question

Does a wet dream while having a fast breaks the fast? That is when a person falls asleep while he is fasting, and he had a wet dream. Does it break the fast? In addition, how to clean your clothes if you see Madhi (fluid which is secreted when a person is excited and the sexual desire increase) and what are the orders for Mazi (fluid secreted at orgasm and sexual desire decreases after it)?

Answer

A wet dream does not break a fast. You may simply bathe yourself before saying your prayers after a wet dream and complete your fast. There is no strict rule of the Shari`ah as to how clothes should be cleaned after such excretions. You may wash the specific part of your clothes, whenever doing so is conveniently possible. At other times, you may simply dry the excretions from your clothes, using a toilet paper or handkerchief. I hope this helps.
