What was the First Language Ever?

March 15, 2005 by Admin

Question

One of my friend asked me a very interesting question that which was the first language that was spoken on earth and which nation came as the first nation on earth? Can you help me answer him? I hope my question is clear and easy.

Regards

Answer

The Qur’an does not mention anything about any language being the first. Languages were the development of human communication. They are a tool of expression so their history has no religious significance. The information regarding an original language or languages is not found in the religious sources of Islam. The first “nation” is also not discussed in the Qur’an and only the mention of Adam and Eve as being the first people can be found. You may want to refer to books on languages or speak with linguists that have such knowledge.

I hope I have clarified the issue.

God knows best.
