Eid wishes. What remains of Ramadan?
What remains of the past month? A few fleeting notes, laughter and lights, the impression of having been more than usual. Essential sharing, belonging to others, living the couple, the family, the community, humanity.
Some marks of Him in the lowering of our being. What Mercy that having restrained our desires has given us to love solitude like crowds, hunger like satiety, thirst like pure water, death like life. A few traces of Love in a banal desert.
May it be given to us, before a new season joins us, to still share, still endure, still cry, still desire, still hope, still live and still die.
May it therefore be given to us, before oblivion buries us, to always persevere, to always listen, to always refuse hatred, to always resist for God, to always love for God.
May it therefore be given to us, before life intoxicates us, to remind us, to lecture us, to despair, to hate ourselves, to repent, to draw closer, to abandon ourselves to Him.
May it be given to us, before time fades, to still be able to taste solitude, love abstinence, desire to pray, cry with desire, seek fulfillment, desire renunciation.
May it therefore be given to us, before our hearts dry up, to want to offer, to want to commune, to want to reconcile, to want humanity pacified, to want hope renewed, to want a shared future, to offer ourselves.
May it be granted to us never to refuse, never to neglect, never to offend, never to lower ourselves, never to forget, never.
O Lord, it is You we implore!
O Lord, who else to implore!
May I therefore be given this renewed Eid the opportunity to address and share with everyone a moment of repentance and hope:
God forgive us
May God forgive us with all Mercy
Our oceans of darkness
Our unspeakable depths.
May God forgive us for infinite Forbearance
Our dark wounds
Our unacknowledged violence.
May God forgive us with immense Generosity
Our vile and rebellious souls
Our ugly and servile flesh.
May God forgive us with full indulgence
Our hidden lies
Our crimes accepted.
May God forgive us with absolute clemency.
Our inexcusable pretensions
Our sordid desires.
May God forgive us with sweet kindness
The harshness of the hands
Weakness of hearts.
May God forgive us with sovereign Compassion
Our immeasurable pride
Our insignificant conditions.
God forgive us,
God forgive us.
