The UN denounces the “genocidal rhetoric” and the dehumanization of the Palestinians by Israeli leaders

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, launched a solemn warning on Monday in Geneva: he denounced the “genocidal rhetoric” of Israeli officials and calls on the international community to act without delay to prevent genocide. “I am horrified by the open use of this rhetoric and by the dehumanization of the Palestinians,” he said at the opening of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council. He urged states to “put an end to the carnage” and stop “missing their duty towards the population of Gaza”.

Volker Türk has drawn up overwhelming: massacres of civilians, massive destruction, organized famine, assassinations of journalists and humanitarian workers. So many crimes which, according to him, “shock consciences in the world”. The High Commissioner asked for the immediate stop of arms deliveries to Israel, a cease-fire, the release of hostages and prisoners, as well as unhindered humanitarian access. He finally called to counter any Israeli project of military occupation of Gaza and accelerated annexation of the West Bank.
